On-campus immersion
You are required to complete one three- to four-day on-campus immersion at NYU as part of the program and should plan for any associated travel and lodging expenses based on your location.
Financial aid
Eligible students may access financial aid resources to help support graduate study. Explore the available options below and connect with the enrollment team for guidance tailored to your circumstances.
Students interested in federal financial aid must:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each academic year to apply for federal aid and to maintain eligibility
- Use NYU’s school code: 002785
Eligible graduate students may borrow up to $20,500 per academic year through the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan program (up to a lifetime limit of $100,000).
To receive federal student aid, students must be enrolled at least half-time (a minimum of 4.5 credits per semester).
You may decide to explore private loans to supplement your other aid. Please be sure to compare options and consider your obligations as a borrower before you commit to a private loan.
A select number of scholarships are awarded to aspiring mental health counselors who demonstrate a commitment to making a difference in their communities.
Scholarships are awarded based on application review and submission of the FAFSA to NYU. Ensure you have submitted the FAFSA to be considered for school-based scholarships. Review other opportunities for specialty scholarships (which require a separate application) and external scholarships.

Yes. In addition to tuition, you are responsible for registration and student service fees. You will also be responsible for travel and housing when you attend the in-person immersions in New York City.
A nonrefundable $200 enrollment deposit is required from admitted students to secure their place in the program before the start of their first term. Please refer to your official admission letter for your specific deposit deadline.

Yes. If your employer or another organization provides tuition assistance, NYU offers a third-party billing process. The process begins after the university receives a financial guarantee or authorization from the sponsoring organization or the student.
